How To Create a GIF

So we’ve all seen them. GIFs are everywhere. Moving images, without sound, that continue over and over on a loop. Often short, and very popular on social media. These little snippets are great for marketing, but perhaps you’re looking to create your own, but you have no idea where to start? Well, thankfully it’s a lot easier than you think, and we’re gonna tell you exactly how to make them.

The best, easiest and cheapest way to create a GIF is by using GIPHY.com, the most popular site for finding and sharing GIFs. Now if you know about this site, you may not know that you can create a GIF here.

So first things first, head to the site and click create. Next, add the web address of the video you’d like to make into a GIF. Then you can find the part of the video you’d like to capture and then select the length. We recommend a relatively short length for your GIF, most last around 5-10, or even less.

Next the site will give you a few options in decorating your GIF, so you can add filters and text to snazz it up a little bit. Customise it however you please. Then you can upload your GIF to GIPHY.com, and using an app you can quickly find your GIF when wanting to post one on your social media channels, or you can take the link, save it and post it where you see fit. Easy as that. GIPHY also lets you do this on mobile, and also lets you screen record to create footage that you can use in your GIF.

Of course there are plenty of other ways you can create GIFs, some are more complicated than what we’re just recommended such as Photoshop, and that can be costly if you don’t have an Adobe membership. But there are apps such as LICECap, Gifcam ScreenToGif that can do the job cheaper and just as well as GIPHY.com.

And it’s honestly that easy, we’d recommend using GIPHY for all your GIF needs. They’re perfect little mess bites to use on social media that are a great form of fun communication, and if you can create your own, you’ll stand out even more.
