How does 2D animation work?

Image
2D animation is a colourful, vibrant and fun style of video with two dimensional graphics and text to tell your story in an engaging and appealing way. But in comparison to other forms of video, there is a lot more work and detail that goes into making a one of these 2D animated videos, and we thought we’d let you in on the production process. Creating a storyboard is a key aspect of 2D animation, this details how the story and message will come together. A graphic designer can then design the images required and the animator uses their skillset to bring these graphics to life by creating movements and transitions. From then, it’s time to develop the animation. There are a whole range of programs that can be used to develop a 2D animated video, the one most commonly used is Adobe After Effects, which can be used for a variety of videos types, not even just animation. You can use other, basic tools from other programmes such as Premiere Pro to create simple moving items. This wou...

How To Stay Focused When Working From Home

Image
Working from home is still a massive part of COVID-19 restrictions, with many having to return home after only being back in the office a few weeks. We’ve all had to work from home in some fashion this year and we know it can be stressful. The office environment is a place where you can focus, have a more direct relationship with your colleagues and ultimately, have a better work/life balance. But if you are back at home, we have some tips and ideas on how you can work better and feel a lot more focused for the time to come. Having a structure Getting out of your routine at work can be a bit of a pain, especially if it’s something that helps you get on with your day better. At home there’s a lot more variables, perhaps children to look after that will upset your normal routine. So, before you start your week, make sure you’re planning out your day accordingly, taking into account all of the additional factors that are in this routine, and making sure you’re getting what you need...

Books and Novels: What We’ve Been Reading

Image
We’ve not really mentioned before about our love for all things book. We love a good read, and if you don’t believe us, you should see our office collection! We all read lots of different kinds of things, so you could say we’re very diverse in terms of reading habits. For that reason we’ve put together a few of our reading recommendations, so if you’ve got some free time and fancy diving into a good book, we’ve got you covered. Salem’s Lot by Stephen King It wouldn’t be a book recommendations list, or even the month of October, if we didn’t add in a spooky book. What other author could write a scary book perfect for Halloween? Salem’s Lot  is one of Stephen King’s most classic horror novels, set in the eponymous town where an author fights a group of evil vampires, who are taking over the town person by person. This book helped to bring vampires back into the mainstream after Bram Stoker’s Dracula . If you’ve ever gotten bored over the masses of vampire media out there, th...

The Slow Decay of Cinema

Image
Have you visited the cinema since COVID-19 restrictions lifted? Not many have. It’s easy to see this from the poor box office performance of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet,  a film that, if it hadn’t been for the pandemic, would have been a sure fire hit.  The New Mutants  and  Bill And Ted Face The Music  were two other recent releases that hoped to put cinemas back on the map, but sadly, haven’t done as well as intended. And now, the second delay of the next Bond film,  No Time To Die,  has pushed cinema chains Cineworld and Picturehouse to close all of their stores temporarily. There were hopes that a new Bond film would pull in more and more people, but with another delay this hasn’t given the chains a lot to go on for the rest of the year. This puts a catastrophic amount of jobs at risk, as could be the same with other chains such as Vue and Everyman in the coming months. This begs the biggest question. Is cinema dying? Not so much the art of c...

Streaming: Our September Viewing Habits

Image
If you still haven’t made a trip to the cinema this month due to worries of the COVID-19 pandemic, then we can only guess you’re still at home watching Netflix, Amazon or even Disney for your entertainment fixes. Thankfully, streaming services have had plenty to offer in terms of film and TV on demand, and we’ve got some of our own recommendations to throw your way. Let’s dig right in! The Boys We’ve discussed Amazon’s The Boys before, as it’s first season was fantastic. The satire on the superhero genre is brilliantly clever and charismatic, you won’t find anything like this anywhere else. Set in a world where the superheroes are corporate villains, ‘the Boys’ are a group of vigilantes working to bring them down. The show is halfway through it’s second season now, so if you haven’t seen the first yet, you’ll hopefully have a full season to watch after you finish. Euphoria Zendaya has just won an Emmy for her role as Rue in this coming of age TV show, and it’s very well dese...
